LET'S GET TO WORK

I offer a range of massage treatments tailored to your individual needs. All treatments begin with a consultation so that I can fully understand how best to treat you. I'll listen to what you and your body is telling me, I'll suggest the most appropriate treatment from one, or a combination, of the treatments I offer, and then I'll get to work. My ultimate goal is for you to feel better, move better, be better.

REMEDIAL MASSAGE

Remedial massage therapy is all about addressing pain, injury, and movement issues in a focused and thoughtful way. It’s not just about easing discomfort; it's not just about helping you move more freely; it’s about understanding what’s causing the issue and working to resolve the root of the problem. Whether it’s tension from poor posture, strain from overuse, or an injury holding you back, remedial massage uses techniques like trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and deep tissue work to help you feel better and move freely.

Every session is tailored to your unique needs. After a careful assessment, the treatment focuses on the areas causing issue. Remedial massage isn’t just for managing pain; it’s also great for preventing future problems by improving flexibility and addressing muscle imbalances. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, dealing with a nagging ache, or just want to feel more comfortable in your body, remedial massage is a hands-on approach to helping you feel and move well.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports massage is an effective treatment option for athletes, weekend warriors, fitness enthusiasts and active individuals – designed to enhance your physical performance, accelerate recovery, help regain, retain and improve movement and mobility, reduce stress and tension caused by intense physical activity and so keep your muscles in prime condition. By improving blood flow and oxygen delivery to your muscles, sports massage eases those stubborn aches, reduces inflammation, and prevents fatigue and injury before they start. Whether you're preparing for a competition, exercising or training on a regular basis, are in post-event mode, or are simply aiming to stay active and pain-free, a sports massage will leave your muscles feeling rejuvenated, more flexible, and ready to perform at their best. A sports massage combines a mix of techniques, including myofascial manipulation, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques and joint mobilisation. Functional dry cupping and instrument assisted work is often included. Sports massage treatments usually start with a postural examination followed by safety and range of movement tests.

PRE AND POST EVENT

What are your pre-event and post-event routines? Before an event, you’re probably stretching – maybe even doing active isolated stretching. Maybe you do a quick cool down or stretch after a game. But are your muscles getting the full preparation and recovery they need?

Pre-event and post-event massage is something you should consider adding to your wellness routines. Before an event, it aids in preparing soft tissue for activity, enhances muscle flexibility, improves circulation, reduces muscle tension, improves range of movement and assists with injury prevention. After an event, it helps keep delayed onset muscle soreness at bay and will go help with faster recovery times and a healthy return to training, Both are very powerful in hindering potential injuries and enhancing performance.

If this is something that you’d like to do, get in touch and together we'll set up your tailored sports massage programme.

DEEP TISSUE

Deep Tissue Massage is designed to target tension from deep within your muscles. It uses slow and deliberate strokes to reach and release areas of tension that may be causing discomfort and general muscle aches and pains and can also help improve and restore a muscle or joints range of movement. The pressure in a Deep Tissue treatment is usually quite firm and can feel quite intense – but it should never be painful. This level of pressure, along with the specialized techniques used, is particularly effective for releasing general aches and pains, improving posture, releasing built-up tension (especially in the neck, upper back and shoulders) and for enhancing mobility. Trigger Point therapy is often included in a Deep Tissue treatment. Clients often feel an ‘instant relief’ and ‘instant release’ after a Deep Tissue massage – especially in areas where there has been chronic muscle tightness or muscle pain.

RELAXATION

Swedish massage is a popular, gentle massage technique that focuses on promoting relaxation and improving circulation. The treatment incorporates long, calming strokes, kneading, and circular movements to help you relax and unwind. This massage is designed to be both soothing and invigorating, providing a holistic experience that leaves you refreshed and revitalised. A lighter pressure is generally used and hot stones can also be incorporated.

Swedish massage is ideal for anyone looking to relax, reduce stress, and improve their overall well-being. To really appreciate the benefits of this massage, I would recommend a ninety-minute treatment, however, should time be limited, then a sixty-minute back, neck and shoulder or a sixty-minute lower back, legs and glutes treatment, would be very effective. Whether you’re dealing with everyday stress, need relief from muscle tension, or simply want to treat yourself to a calming experience, this is a great choice.

THE FULL BODY 'MOT'

My ‘signature’ treatment delivers outstanding muscle rejuvenation with a two-hour full-body massage, tailored to your individual needs and preferences. This bespoke massage treatment is designed to ease muscle tension, reduce stress and anxiety, improve circulation, restore balance, reawaken tired muscles and reinstate a sense of calm and positive well-being – leaving you feeling refreshed and ready to face the world with renewed vitality.

The full-body ‘MOT’ massage combines a mix of styles – from long, flowing Swedish massage strokes, assisted stretching and joint mobilisation to slow, steady and more focused deep tissue work and techniques – carried out at pressure levels that are right for you. This is a complete full body experience and includes massage of the upper and lower back, neck and shoulders, glutes, legs, inner thighs and quads, calves, arms, upper chest (female), upper chest and pecs (male) and abdominals. No two ‘MOT’ treatments are ever the same – every treatment is as unique as you are.

CUPPING AND IASTM

In addition to hands-on therapy, adding cupping and IASTM work into the treatment can sometimes enhance the treatment being carried out. Clinical (or dry) cupping is used to further loosen soft tissue, stimulate a vascular response and prime the nervous system to reduce pain, improve range of movement and enhance physical rehabilitation. Cupping is also available as a stand-alone treatment session. The IASTM tools I use are the Ached Away Heated Scraper and Mini-Scraper. These impressive wee tools combine the principles of heat therapy (the tools heat to 50 degrees Celsius within seconds) and scraping massage techniques to elevate a clients muscle treatment and recovery routine. Research has shown that heat and scraping together enhances mobility, encourages pain relief, improves blood flow, softens muscle tissue and so, in turn, promotes healing. All treatments are tailored specifically to my client’s needs - so I may (or may not) use these tools as part of your overall treatment. They are only used if there is a good reason to use them and, generally, they are only used in a remedial or sports massage.
